PROGRAM FOCUS German Intensive Language Program + Professional Internship Experience
The Vienna 2018 Spring program has two complementary foci: students will gain professional experience while working to improve their language skills. Here's how that looks in terms of courses:
What courses will you get credit for as part of the program?

Preparing for your OPI for your major or Language Certificate?
Improving proficiency isn't just "talking more". In our program, you'll have proficiency-focused assignments every week in our culture and proficiency class. You'll practice improving your ability to give detailed descriptions of the places we visit and to be able to give better and more detailed narrations, telling the stories of Vienna, its movers, shakers and those who led an empire. All of these activities are intended to help you improve your language skills and proficiency in preparation for your OPI you'll take as part of German 400R and the Language Certificate.
So Vienna 2018 isn't just about your major/minor, work experience, and even cultural experience: it's about improving your language skills.
Please note that a condition of participation is that students are willing to use German as much as possible. This is a German intensive program and students are encouraged to use German wherever possible not only for their own benefit, but to also not conflict with the efforts of their fellow students to use and improve their German.
